Another of Utah’s oldest and most desired communities is Sugar House. Originally established in 1853, the community gets it’s name from a sugar beet test factory that was located nearby. This was also the site of Utah Territory’s first prison, until re-located to the Draper area around 1951.
The homes in this area are well built, and range from modest to extravagant.
Located close to the University of Utah and Salt Lake City, Sugar House offers a unique community feel, small coffee shops, restaurants and retail shops have characterized the town.
There are many things afoot as a new large development and a new transit line is coming into the town center. Although these have met with some resistance, changes are coming about.
Still there are wonderful homes here, tucked away under treelined streets offering a feeling of peace and quiet, style and comfort.
If you are looking for an area where these things are appealing to you, you might just find yourself looking for a home in Sugar House.
